  1.    WinRAR and Rar for Linux versions 2.60 and above are registered with
  2. a new, very secure, AV registration seal. The main advantage of this
  3. new authenticity verification code is a significant increase in
  4. the strength of the registration code and thus it's use as a means
  5. of identification of the origin of a sealed archive.
  6.  
  7.    Unfortunately this also means that the old registration keyfiles
  8. will not operate with the latest versions of Rar-Linux and WinRAR and
  9. thus all keyfiles must be changed. This is a cost-free process to
  10. the registered user and instructions for receiving the new keyfiles
  11. are given below:

  13. 1)  You must locate your old registration information and this will be
  14.     found either in the original e-mail which was sent to you when
  15.     you registered or alternatively in the file RAR.INI in the user's home
  16.     directory.
  17.  
  18.     You will need the registration CODE, and the registration NAME.
  19.  
  20. 2)  Create a PLAIN TEXT e-mail message as follows:

  22.      Recipient:  NewKey@rarsoft.com
  23.      Subject:    Whatever you like
  24.  
  25.     The body of the message must contain only two lines, as described
  26.     below:
  27.  
  28.      Registration code
  29.      Registration name
  30.  
  31.  
  32.     If you purchased more than one license for RAR, please submit
  33.     ONLY the FIRST AV code and it's associated text string.  If anything
  34.     other than the FIRST AV code is supplied, the robot will be unable
  35.     to locate your keyfile for upgrade.

  42.     Please note:  The e-mail message must NOT be in HTML format,
  43.     otherwise it is in danger of being ignored.  If you are using
  44.     an HTML e-mail program, then be sure to turn HTML OFF when creating
  45.     this message.

  47. 3)  Send the e-mail message and a reply, containing either further
  48.     instructions or your new key will be sent to you within 24 hours.
  49.     You will need to keep your key in a safe place and be sure not
  50.     to let anyone else have copies of them.

  52.     The new key will be returned to you with an e-mail message and
  53.     a file attached.  The attachment will be called RARKEYS.RAR and will
  54.     contain one, or more, file:
  55.  
  56.     RARREG.KEY         ..      Your keyfile for WinRAR/Linux.
  57.  
  58.     If you purchased multiple keyfiles, these will be included in
  59.     the returned archive as .002, .003 etc.
  60.  
  61.     To register RAR/Linux, simply copy the file RARREG.KEY (or RARREG.002,
  62.     003 etc) into the user's home directory and it will automatically
  63.     be registered.

  66.     the registration site from whom you purchased the original registration
  67.     and they will help to resolve any problems you may have.
